CU theatre students win at festival
The Cameron University Department of Theatre Arts recently returned from the Oklahoma One State
American College Theatre Festival with a number of awards.
Jana Acevedo, a senior Theatre Arts major from Lawton, was recognized for Excellence in Costume
Design for the school’s production of “Scenes and Revelations” by Elan Garonzik. Also recognized for the
production was Mandi Bongiorno, Archbold, Ohio; for Excellence in Stage Management. The entire cast
of the production was the only group at the festival to receive an Excellence in Ensemble Acting award.
The department also received an award for the development of new playwrights.
Amanda Billings, Kingston, Canada; Christan Gillis, Dallas, Texas; and Bryan West, Howard, Ohio;
received Irene Ryan nominations for their acting in “Scenes and Revelations.” The three performers will
compete at the Regional Festival which is scheduled the last week in February and will be held at Sam
Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas.
