The logo of the 2012 Olympics
• Designed by Wolff Olins brand consultancy
• Development cost £400.000
• The shapes are simplified representations
of the geographical shapes of the five
continents - clockwise from top right:
Europe, Asia, North and South America,
Africa and Australia in the centre.
• 2012 is often misread as 20R
• The logo has recieved harsh criticism and
is most commonly described as a “joke”,
“disaster”, “puerile mess”, “commercial
scandal” and “kid’s competition entry”.
• Design guru Stephen Bayley has said:
"There are 5,000 talented designers who
could have done the job for £10,000."
