Lesson – Lamentations 2:14-22
14Your
prophets have seen for you
False and deceptive visions;
They have not uncovered your iniquity,
To bring back your captives,
But have envisioned for you false prophecies and delusions.
15All
who pass by clap their hands at you;
They hiss and shake their heads
At the daughter of Jerusalem:
"Is this the city that is called
"The perfection of beauty,
The joy of the whole earth'?"
16All
your enemies have opened their mouth against you;
They hiss and gnash their teeth.
They say, "We have swallowed her up!
Surely this is the day we have waited for;
We have found it, we have seen it!|"
First Lesson – Continued…
17The
LORD has done what He purposed;
He has fulfilled His word
Which He commanded in days of old.
He has thrown down and has not pitied,
And He has caused an enemy to rejoice over you;
He has exalted the horn of your adversaries.
18Their heart cried out to the Lord,
"O wall of the daughter of Zion,
Let tears run down like a river day and night;
Give yourself no relief;
Give your eyes no rest.
19"Arise, cry out in the night,
At the beginning of the watches;
Pour out your heart like water before the face of the Lord.
Lift your hands toward Him
For the life of your young children,
Who faint from hunger at the head of every street."
First Lesson – Continued…
20"See,
O LORD, and consider!
To whom have You done this?
Should the women eat their offspring,
The children they have cuddled?[1]
Should the priest and prophet be slain
In the sanctuary of the Lord?
21"Young and old lie
On the ground in the streets;
My virgins and my young men Have fallen by the sword;
You have slain them in the day of Your anger,
You have slaughtered and not pitied.
22"You have invited as to a feast day
The terrors that surround me.
In the day of the LORD's anger
There was no refugee or survivor.
Those whom I have borne and brought up
My enemies have destroyed."

Lesson – Mark 9:14-29
A Boy Is Healed
(1) 14 And when He came to the disciples, He saw a great
multitude around them, and scribes disputing with them.
15Immediately, when they saw Him, all the people were greatly
amazed, and running to Him, greeted Him. 16And He asked the
scribes, "What are you discussing with them?"
17Then one of the crowd answered and said, "Teacher, I brought
You my son, who has a mute spirit. 18And wherever it seizes
him, it throws him down; he foams at the mouth, gnashes his
teeth, and becomes rigid. So I spoke to Your disciples, that they
should cast it out, but they could not."
19He answered him and said, "O faithless generation, how long
shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him
to Me." 20Then they brought him to Him. And when he saw
Him, immediately the spirit convulsed him, and he fell on the
ground and wallowed, foaming at the mouth.

21So
Lesson – Mark 9:14-29
He asked his father, "How long has this been happening to
him?"
And he said, "From childhood. 22And often he has thrown him
both into the fire and into the water to destroy him. But if You
can do anything, have compassion on us and help us."
23Jesus said to him, "If you can believe,[1] all things are
possible to him who believes."
24Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with
tears, "Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!"
25When Jesus saw that the people came running together, He
rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it, "Deaf and dumb spirit,
I command you, come out of him and enter him no more!"
nd

26Then
Lesson – Mark 9:14-29
the spirit cried out, convulsed him greatly,
and came out of him. And he became as one
dead, so that many said, "He is dead." 27But
Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him up,
and he arose.
28And when He had come into the house, His
disciples asked Him privately, "Why could we
not cast it out?"
29So He said to them, "This kind can come out
by nothing but prayer and fasting."[2]
